Anita Heiberg is a sustainable fashion designer originally from Vancouver, Canada, but now calls Berlin, Germany her home. She has her BA in Fashion Design and Technology from KPU in Canada, a PG Cert in Innovative Pattern Cutting from the prestigious, Central Saint Martins in London and an MA in Sustainability in Fashion from Esmod University, Berlin. She has over 10 years of experience as a designer and pattern cutter for her own eponymous label, numerous independent designers worldwide and most recently, also as founder of the crowdsourced sustainable fashion design platform - 13Dresses.com. She has nearly a decade of experience teaching pattern cutting and construction in Canada and most recently as Lead Lecturer in Sustainable Design and Interim Program Director of the MA Sustainability in Fashion program at her alma mater, Esmod Berlin.
Her mission is to leverage technology to accelerate sustainable social and environmental change in apparel production through consumer interaction, consultancy and open innovation. She has recently partnered with Lectra Deutschland, Galeries Lafayette and the European Institute for Participatory Media, as well as a number of independent designers worldwide – and is looking for new and exciting collaborations in the future.

3D Sampling with Modaris 3D - Lectra

Researching the impact of 3D sampling in product development for sustainable design strategies, through the use of Lectra's 3D CAD and digital modeling software, Modaris 3D.
Creative Object Mapping/ Draping
Utilizing draping techniques to create a two-dimensional pattern for graphic decals which would follow the three-dimensional buddy bär for the two statues commissioned by Stromnetz Berlin and designed by Ingrid Mühlhauser.
Co-creation and Fashion B2B Consulting
Providing insight into fashion industry practices and methods in order to develop EIPCM's Trendrack app, from their research work with CUbRIK to industry. CUbRIK is visual analytics software using a combination of human and machine learning to critique and analyze fashion visuals under criteria from shape and colour to style and trendiness.
Event Coordination for Fashion and Tech Events
Coordinator, Backstage Manager & Speaker
In collaboration with the American Women's Club of Berlin and DRIVE Volkswagen Group Forum, I co-organized the sustainable fashion show and speaker series, as well as managing the backstage (including models and volunteers) and introducing the Young Designer section of the show. The event showcased 13 designers, 5 speakers, a Fashion Revolution and a live band who played throughout the show. The entire event was organized at breakneck speed over the course of 8 weeks and went off without a hitch!
The event was sold out with over 300 attendees and raised €5000 for Hope Beyond Displacement.
Music & Tech: An International Women's Day Event: 2015

As part of an on-going monthly event series, I co-organized a Music & Tech event at Factory Berlin which brought together dynamic female speakers representing some of the most exciting music and tech companies in Berlin, including: Abelton, Native Instruments, Senic & Soundcloud. There were over 200 attendees!
Galeries Lafayette Workshop: 2014
Print Design Workshop
In partnership with Galeries Lafayette and my company 13 Dresses, I organized and ran co-design workshops for customers to draw and design their own scarf designs which were then submitted to a sustainable design competition on 13Dresses.com.
There were 7 sessions run over 2 days with over 80 participants.
EPIC Sustainability Expo: 2010-2011
Fashion Show Coordination for Consumer Lifestyle Show
Organizing 10 shows over 3 days of the event, consisting of sustainable fashion and accessories for the consumer market. I facilitated the styling of the shows, selection of models, music, and hair and make-up looks. I managed the showcasing of over 20 apparel and accessories brands, catering to their individual needs while creating a dynamic & cohesive show.
EPIC drew a crowd of over 14,000 attendees in 2012.
